Since its inception, the founders of Blessed As I Am, Inc. have recognized the significance and strength that arises from engaging in a community initiative collaboratively. Established by community members who have firsthand knowledge of single-parent challenges, Blessed As I Am, Inc. comprehends the value of offering youth a secure space for artistic expression and other creative avenues. This prepares them for a bright future through educational support and social skills enhancement.
Indiana faces numerous challenges concerning educational achievement and alternative educational opportunities for students beyond the conventional public school setting.
Blessed As I Am, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering mentoring, service projects, college readiness, character development, and career exploration to support teenagers and young adults aged 15-23 in their educational journeys and chosen career fields. This initiative was founded by Ms. Jessica Johnson, the visionary behind Blessed As I Am, Inc.
Jessica Johnson is a dedicated, loving and supportive mother of 3 a son and a set of twin girls, is a model, mentor, and mental health advocate, founded Blessed As I Am, Inc in 2009. Blessed As I Am was born from her personal triumph over bullying and relationship challenges, inspiring her to share her story with others. As a single parent, she realized the lessons she learned about self-value and resilience could benefit many, especially the youth. This realization led to the establishment of Blessed As I Am Inc, with a focus on mentoring and empowering teens and young adults to embrace positive self-worth. She strongly advocates for self-acceptance, regardless of differences in size, color, ethnicity, background, or family statute.
Jessica’s venture into modeling began as a way to break out of her comfort zone and enjoy new experiences. It soon evolved into a powerful platform to challenge stereotypes about modeling. Through fashion, she aims to motivate others to make positive choices, enhance self-perception, and align with their life’s purpose. Modeling has not only fostered her personal development but has also encouraged others to recognize their unique beauty and value.
Apart from her involvement with Blessed As I Am, Jessica has a profound passion for dance, regularly participating in line dance classes. Her educational background in Human Services from Ivy Tech Community College and her pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) from IUPUI have equipped her with the skills to guide and support others. Serving as a College Connection Coach allows her to engage with students daily, assisting them in making positive decisions in their academic pursuits.
Observing the influence of positive motivation and role models on her children and others underscores the significance of initiatives like Blessed As I Am. Through this organization, Jessica aspires to be a source of hope and encouragement for teens and young adults, reminding them of their inherent blessings and worth.
